Final What's On for 2015!

Hello everyone!
I hope you are enjoying your weekend! I cannot believe that this is the last Blog post for the year!.. how the time has flown by. It has been a great year with so many achievements, a lot of tears, but overall lots of joyful moments...it will be hard to let the Preps go :( 

We have another busy week. For the next two days I will be sending more resources home, it would be great if you could please send a plastic bag with your child, and their reader bag, as we are cleaning up our tubs and classroom. As the children have been working really hard over the term, they will be rewarded with a couple of movies and fun activities over the next two days too.The Preps have been rehearsing their Christmas carol for Tuesday's Graduation/Thanksgiving mass, can't wait to see you all there!

What's On Week 10!

Hello everyone!
Sorry about the delay in sending out the 'What's On' for the week. I hope you all have had a nice, somewhat relaxing weekend, leading up to the busy period. I know the Preps have enjoyed celebrating Advent, and getting busy with Christmas activities. They really enjoy picking out a treat everyday from the Christmas packs I brought! Thank you for attending the athletics carnival last Thursday, it was great to see such a big turn out! The Preps did very well considering they had been at school all day too. I hope you all enjoyed yourselves! 

Next Tuesday is our last day of school, students finish at normal time of 3.15 pm, with our Thanksgiving/Grade 6 Graduation Mass and Carols @ 6.30 pm in the School Hall. All students will be participating as each class is performing a Christmas Carol! See you all there!

What's On Week 9!

Hello everyone!
I hope you've all been well. I've finally recovered! and will be back in tomorrow. Tomorrow we have a morning Liturgy to celebrate Advent, please come and join us in the Hall at 8.50 am. On Thursday we have our 'Christmas Themed' athletics carnival from 5.30-6.30 pm! This includes a sausage sizzle. If you are interested in purchasing a hot dog, then please send your order (quantity per family) and money in a named envelope to our class by Tuesday. Please bring a picnic basket and rug too!

What's On Week 8!

Hi all!
I hope you are having a great weekend! The 'Living Eggs Hatching Program' has wrapped up. The Preps were sad to see them leave as they said goodbye on Friday :( Hopefully some will be back in our chicken coop sometime next year! Thank-you to Amy Cagney for being our parent helper last week in the kitchen, it was our last cooking and gardening session for the year! (aprons, gardening shirts and gumboots will be sent home). We have our St Augustine's Got Talent show on the 11 December @ 12pm, only two acts from each class can be chosen so if your child is interested in performing please let me know.  
I have been doing some one-on-one reading with the Preps and it's great to hear how far they've come along since the start of the year! Keep up the great work...only 2.5 more weeks to go until the end of the school year!?!

What's On Week 7!

Hello everyone!
The 'Living Eggs Hatching Program' is well under way, with the children very excited to have them in our classroom. We were very lucky to have witnessed one of them hatch!!! This Tuesday we have our last Cooking and Gardening session for the year, please let me know if you are able to come and help us in the kitchen or garden. On Monday our Book Fair begins, children and parents are able to visit the Hall before and after school to look at some great books and resources to purchase. The children will be making a wish list too so I'm sure you'll be hearing all about it! We have our working Bee next Saturday from 8:00 am—12:00 noon, we would love your support as your help is very much appreciated!

What's On Week 6!

Hello all!
It's week 6 already, only 5 1/2 weeks to go! Firstly I want to thank those who helped organise the Prep BBQ on Friday, it was a great event and the current Preps did a great job with assisting the new Preps. Thank you all for welcoming the new Preps, and their families into our school community. Every Friday, for the next 3 weeks, the new Preps will come to school mid morning to begin the transition process. I cant believe it's been a year since the current Preps started their transition process!

The 'Living Eggs Hatching Program' begins tomorrow! They'll be lots of discussion about our baby chicks for the next few weeks. On Wednesday we have a Remembrance Day Liturgy and a special assembly which you are all welcome to attend. This Friday we will have our whole school photo taken! and on Sunday we have our last Parish Mass at our school, we hope to see you there! This Tuesday there will be an Ancient Animals card swap in Miss Rowlands Prep R room at 11:00 am, first lunch. Please bring along all your spares and a list of what cards you need or your named animal card books, to see what you still need!

Also, it would be great if anyone wanted to come in and talk to the Preps about our bodies and the important jobs our organs/body parts have. Please let me know if you're interested.

What's On Week 5!

Hello everyone!
I hope you've enjoyed the weekend. Thank you to the parent/grand parent helpers we had last week for our Cooking and Gardening program, it's always great to have helpers! (photos below). As we continue to learn more about our bodies, I was hoping if anyone wanted to come in and talk to the Preps about our bodies and the important jobs our organs/body parts have. Please let me know if you can, as it would be very much appreciated!  

This Friday we have our Prep BBQ from 5.30-7.30 pm. Thank you to those who have volunteered to help run the event, this will give the Prep teachers the opportunity to mingle with families and talk to the new Preps! It would be great to see everyone at the BBQ to welcome the new families to our school community. Please RSVP by returning the slip on Wednesday (please email me if you did not receive the invitation). I hope to see you all there!

What's On Week 4!

Hello all!
I hope you've had a good weekend! I think I've finally recovered from my illness thank goodness.Thank you for all the nice messages and your understanding. The Preps have been happily investigating how our bodies work! Our parent helper Anna (Henry's mum) brought in "Benjamin" the skeleton to talk about our bones. They had a great time investigating all the bones especially the elephant ears (pelvis), please see photos below. It would be great if anyone wanted to come in and talk to the Preps about our bodies and the important jobs our organs/body parts have. Please let me know if you're interested. 

This Tuesday we have Cooking and Gardening! We really appreciate your help with running this great program, so please let me know if you can help from 8.50-10.50. This Friday we have 'Day for Daniel', the children will participate in a fun run which will be organised in TEAM colours. Students are encouraged to wear red coloured tops with their TEAM colours for shorts, tracksuit pants, or other suitable attire for running. Wear Red and Educate is the theme for Day for Daniel, a gold coin donation will be collected by our TEAM leaders which will go towards the ongoing work on the Daniel Morcombe Foundation.

What's On Week 3!

Hi everyone!
I hope you've been enjoying the weekend. Thank you to our parent helpers this week! We love having you in our classroom helping us with our activities! I've been doing some one-on-one reading with the Preps, and it's great to hear how much they enjoy reading. Some children are taking 2 readers home, well done :) keep up the fantastic effort! 
This week we have a special assembly to officially raise the Aboriginal Flag. The assembly will commence at 2.30 pm in the plaza, we hope to see you there.

Hello everyone!
I hope you and your family have been enjoying the school holidays, especially this gorgeous weather we've been receiving! I cannot believe we only have a Term left in this year...and then the Preps will be transitioning to grade 1!!! Wow, well lets make the most of it then :)
